Before I can tell you about my dream job, I need to take you all the way back. Up until high school I knew I was going to be a professional singer. I sang in every choir possible. I always did all of the duets, solos and honor choirs. Then one day I realized that the people who make it as singers and musicians are not just ok; they are great. And I was not great.
So in highschool I decided I wanted to write for magazines. I joined the newspaper. I wrote every fun feature story that I could get my hands on. Then in college I met a professor who changed that.
Most people tell the story about the professor who nurtured their dreams. My story is about the professor who made me realize I did not want to end up like him. Old and bitter about a failed career.
I did some research and every light bulb in the room went on when I discovered public relations. At this point I am new to it. I have done multiple internships, and I know I love the profession. However, I do not exactly where I want to (or will) end up.
Currently I am in my job/internship hunt. The rest is to be continued . . .
1. Marley Mizell: My Bucket List
I can’t wait until you appear in a movie! Can I go to the premiere?
2. Leann Luckett: Ah the Bucket List
My favorite have to be winning the lottery, zip line in Costa Rica and traveling to Scotland. I am also Scottish; I want to hear some bagpipes where they were created. I went on a zip line in High School it was so much fun. Costa Rica would be beautiful! And winning the lottery and helping people with the money is just a good aspiration.
3. Jordan McDonald: Pinterest As a PR Pro
I agree Pinterest was not that easy at first. I have been comparing it to Facebook though. I thought Facebook was a little complicated at first too. And now Facebook is like a second language.
4. Katie Palmer: Pinterest
I am surprised you were not hooked immediately. It took me a second to get used to Pinterest, but once I got used to it I was pretty obsessed. Have you never had a day where you end up pinning for hours?
5. Samantha Shockley: Dream Job
I understand the feeling. I am also nervously waiting. I am sure you will be fine. Keep your fingers crossed.
6. Kelsey Mulder: Dream Job
Nashville sounds like so much fun. Entertainment PR would be great there. And working for a record label sounds like a lot of fun.
7. Blane Humphries: A Short Post About Social Media
I agree that you cannot overlook social media and that the good does out weigh the bad. I think most companies who like to keep a tight reign on their messaging need to look into social media guidelines. It is definitely the best way to have “control” over the content.
8. Yasmine Horton: A Little Mad Men Never Hurt Anyone
I agree companies need to tailor their messages. Copying their competitors can cause the same mistake that copying someones test can. The company can wind up with the same answers in the wrong order.
9. Rob Roberts: A Blast from the Past
I loved “Are You Afraid of the Dark?”. The show always had such creative plots, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. It was a good way to have a thriller that was not too scary.
10. Lauren Stevens: Bring Back my Shows
I Love Lucy and Boy Meets World a girl after my own heart. Boy Meets World is my show too! I could watch it over and over and over again.

And the home of the BRAVES!

As an Atlanta girl — born and raised — I have been raised doing the tomahawk chop. I go to at least one game a year, and my highlight game was seeing John Smoltz’s 3,000 strike out. However, I am a horrible fan. I love the Braves, but I have never been a great sports fan because I don’t keep up with the statistics, trading or competitors. My love for the Braves starts and ends with the excitement of Turner Field and the surrounding culture.
Nothing is better then a bunch of excited Braves fans tailgating all day and then dancing in the stands. Because of this I think the Braves should do a campaign to go back to the culture of the sport. When the Braves have a poor season, they still have still have a strong fan base. Their fan base goes beyond the Atlanta area to a larger southern reach. I think the marketing and communications team for the Braves should bring out a campaign to acknowledge the large reach of Braves fans. The campaign should consist of commercials, billboards, and other print advertisements as well as a huge reach into social media.
In order to incorporate a winning season, they should do the same cultural aspect that stretches across all Braves fans introducing fans in other areas. But uniquely this campaign would encourage the excitement of a winning season. I think they should go back to the National Anthem finishing it out like a true Braves fan would. They should incorporate this in all traditional media. They should also ask fans to incorporate the song if videos and submit them via social media. They could even put on a competition for the ultimate braves fan to possibly go go the world series.
Everyone needs to be doing the Tomahawk Chop!
